1 Kings 18:20 45
In todays society many people experience seasons of drought upon their lives. They go through seasons of dryness.
It seems like nothing is going to change.
Drought can come in many forms upon people.
Financial unusual lack of finance to complete life.
Social unusual Lack of friends to walk with.
Spiritual unusual lack of the word of the Lord. Lack of the supernatural.
Emotional unusual lack of encouragement and acceptance.
Drought is abnormal dryness and the lack of regular sustainable freshness or the lack of the normal amount of water.
There is a difference between a desert and a drought. Remember a desert is not in a drought its just a dry climate.
Some people are in situations that have a dry climate. They are not experiencing drought, they just have to change
their surroundings, the things they allow into their lives and their thinking.
You might say "But I cant change my life. I can't change my thinking. 'All that positive stuff doesnt seem to be
working for me'." That may be true but the grace of our Lord can and will and does change the climate that exists
around your life.
As we get a bigger understanding of the grace of God towards us, we change our thinking and the by-product of that
is a different climate.
In todays scripture we see the breaking of a drought, not just getting out of a desert. There are plenty of keys
for breaking drought hidden within scripture.
Keys for breaking drought
1. A word from the Lord.
Verse 21 "How long will you falter between two opinions?"
God always brings us to a place of decision. We have to decide between what God says and what man says. We need
the word of the Lord. We need revelation.
Some of the faltering that occurs in church today includes:
Im in the church; Im out of the church. Ill attend cell but not the church.
Im going to pray, Im not going to pray. Im going to give; Im not going to give.
Im going to sing, Im not going to sing. We hear it all the time.
But right here, right now. Thats what the prophet is saying. Right here right now, make a decision. Stop being
tossed too and fro about by every wind of doctrine or other peoples opinions.
Right here, right now.
2. Repairing the altar.
Verse 30 "he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been broken down."
The altar is the place of our devotion. Its the place of our commitment. The altar is about the sacrifice of
praise and worship. Its not what we sing; its where we sing from.
After we get the revelation from God about the two opinions and make a choice we need to take steps in the area of
our devotion to God.
This is a major key to breaking drought. As we worship, our attention shifts to how good God is as we remind
ourselves of the grace of God. Our perception changes! We change.
3. Getting our lives in order
Verse 33 "and he put the wood in order".
God created order. He created an order that would help us live our lives. Order is the keeping of rank in the
House of God. Its discipline, and responsibility. An Army doesnt win a battle with multiple battle plans. It
wins a war with a defined strategy. For us its "rise and build".
4. Cut the Bull
Verse 33 "cut the bull into pieces".
Cutting the bull signifies the sacrifice and the shedding of blood. Whenever blood was shed a covenant, a divine
agreement was enacted. For us, the sacrifice and the shed blood of Jesus is already in place. Its permanent! So
lets look at this another way.
Sometimes we just have to cut the bull about our lives. Stop pretending we are sacrificing. Stop making excuses
about our lives. Its too easy to walk around and say, I go to church. I give I sing. God doesnt just want things
about you. He wants you.
The ultimate pretence is the giving of things to God over yourself. I encourage you to ask God to help you to cut
the bull about and in your lives.
5. Pour it Out
Verses 33-35
God has set in motion an amazing principle. Its Give and it shall be given unto you. Giving of yourself, your
time, and your talents breaks something over your life. Sometimes God requires something more. We need to
pour it out and give it trusting God to come through.
Remember it starts with revelation.
Breaking the drought is divine. Its God inspired, man conspired. This year is a drought breaking year for The
House. Lets walk together and see the amazing victory of God.
